Where I lived @20:

I moved from a farm in Iowa to live in a condominium in Falls Church, VA. Major culture shock!

What I did @20:

I worked for an Ophthalmologist helping clients with their cataracts and other eye issues. This experience taught me to be very patient with those in need.

At the time, I was too naive to know that you don’t talk to strangers on the elevator. I almost scared some little old ladies to death with too much friendliness!

My favorite song @20: “Yellow Roses” by Dolly Parton

Who I loved @20:

The man I still love to this day (see photo) – I married my High School Sweetheart! Now, we are happily celebrating 25 years strong. It was the best decision I have ever made!

What made headlines when I was @20:

Mikhail S. Gorbachev named Soviet President (May 25)
After 28 years, Berlin Wall is open to West (Nov. 11)
Czech Parliament ends Communists’ dominant role (Nov. 30)
US troops invade Panama, seeking capture of General Manuel Noriega (Dec. 20)
